2019 Wander the Water Relay

this year we relay for

Maribeth Walton

After going to the doctor in February, Maribeth was referred to Rochester. She then had surgery March 11th and was diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer which metastasized to her colon, momentum, diaphragm, the surface of your liver, as well as scattered lymph nodes. She had a successful surgery where they were able to remove almost all the cancer masses. She suffered several serious post-surgical complications, twice resulting in ambulance rides back to Rochester with subsequent hospital stays. She is currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy. She is receiving IV therapy 1-2 for fluids and medications to counteract the negative side effects of chemotherapy. With the side effects of the IV therapy she requires a great deal of rest and is unable to work. Recovery will be lengthy with numerous follow up appointments and tests. Maribeth is and always has been a pillar of strength in both her family and community, she has worked at Good Samaritan Society for 43 years. Proceeds from the relay will go to helping Maribeth and her family offset medical and living expenses while she is unable to work.
